Nicki Minaj Talks new music, signing artists, and Cardi B and Quavo in new interview

Nicki Minaj broke her hiatus from social media and celebrated with her fans the release of two new singles “Barbi Tingz” and “Chun-Li”. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Nicki announces that the next album is “the best album that she’s ever made”.

Leading up to the release of her new records, Nicki addressed details surrounding her absence from the public eye, what happened with Cardi B and Quavo on ‘Motorsport’, her relationship with Birdman and Lil Wayne, and what business moves we can expect to see from her in the future.

In her song “Barbi Tingz” Nicki says she “Had to come off IG so they can’t stalk me” referring to her hiatus from social media since the end of 2017. She says she was able to put her focus back on the music like in her mixtape days. Thus we have not only “Chun-Li” and “Barbi Tingz”, but an entire body of work that will be released at an undisclosed time with a title that’s still under wraps. We do know, however, that the new music will accompany a tour and documentary that captured the process of her making her 4th album.

Everyone’s been curious about Nicki’s opinion on how the industry is rallying around her ex, Meek Mill and the legal battles he’s facing. She said she’s been involved in the process and supports him because of the mutual respect that have for eachother. As for the support Nicki has shown both Lil Wayne and Birdman during their disagreements, she chops it up to being family and knowing family will always work it out.

Speaking of settling beefs, Nicki emotionally shares her experience working with Cardi B and Migos on ‘Motorsport’. She says that she was disappointed that no one came to her defense when rumors about how she jumped on the song started circulating. She confirmed that when she originally heard the song Cardi was not on it and says she was fine when she was told that Cardi’s verse was added. However she cleared the air about why she didn’t show up to the video shoot when Cardi was there, saying it was a "scheduling conflict".

They focused back on the music and shared that Nicki actually signed the producer, Chevi Music, that made “Barbi Tingz” and “Chun-Li” and is looking to sign more artists.
