With tonight being the Detroit Pistons Preseason Opener, Oh So Radio is taking you back to last weekend, where the Pistons held an open practice at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor. With the city already buzzing in excitement for the 2018 season, that anticipation came to life as hundreds of fans and families came together to watch an astounding performance during a team scrimmage, full of entertainment and a glimpse into what’s to come as our boys embark on the next chapter of the franchise’s history.

From Andre Drummond’s dunks to an insane buzzer beater by Glenn Robinson, the game was on as Blake Griffin packed the heat in his defense against his teammates. Led by Coach Casey, last years Coach of the Year, we got to witness the work executed in the offseason be applied on the court. The players looked healthy, played smart, and prepared mentally as the season accelerated into the present.

During timeouts and half time, the crowd was kept pleased with amazing displays by the Detroit Pistons Drumline, Dance Team, and Extreme Team. Hooper kept the kids engaged with his dance moves and tee-shirt tosses until the very end. And if that wasn’t entertaining enough, Rookie Zach Lofton gave his rendition to Beyonce’s Single Ladies as punishment for leaving behind his pink, girly backpack, a staple in the Rookie Hazing Ritual. His performance was so engaging, Reggie Jackson couldn’t help himself and put on his own performance for the crowd with his one-of-a-kind dance moves.

Having the event held in the Crisler Center reminded Luke Kennard of his days as a college prospect, where he kept in contact with the coach (and still does) after attending a Freshman camp at Michigan. “It was definitely in my Top 5.” He also mentioned that he almost played football for Michigan before deciding to commit to Duke University for basketball his junior year of high school. “I know a lot of people here, I’ve come back for a few visits, and I’ll definitely be back to watch a football game and basketball game here.”

Michigan is full of talent, and an aspiring sports journalist got the chance to interview Andre Drummond post practice. #0 emphasized his goal for the day was to make it as fun as possible for everyone. “I’m looking forward to a really good season.” The young journalist asked Andre what his thoughts were on Lebron James joining the Lakers, to which he replied “I wasn't surprised. With Cleveland, he did everything he was supposed to do. Now it was time to take it to the next Chapter to get to the next level.”

We see that same next-level promise in our 2018 Pistons team, with the next Chapter beginning tonight as they open the preseason in Chesapeake Energy Arena against Oklahoma City Thunder.
